Three stages.
One crown.
Twenty miles of Kickapoo.
Grindy gravel and a hearty sampling of sweet single-track on the Kickapoo Mountain Bike Trails. Points at every stage, one crown at the end of the day.
Three stages, three crowns
Each stage is scored on where you finish. Ride all three, stack your points, take the crown.
Stage 1: Gravel & the Ravines
A mix of fast gravel and challenging single-track through the ravines of Kickapoo's Trail 10. The longest stage of the day and the one that sorts the field.
Stage 2: Pavement & Reverse
A one-mile paved section, then trails 4, 3 and 2 run in reverse and back to the Trailhead. Familiar dirt, unfamiliar direction.
Stage 3: Fast & Flowy
Out to Trail 1A, 1B and back. The fastest stage of the day — whatever points are still on the table get decided here.
8:15 AM — ages 12 and under
Informal, free and right after the Stage 1 start — a short lap on Trail 1B for the youngest riders. No entry fee; sign up ahead so we know how many are riding, or just show up with a bike and a helmet.
Race Day Schedule
Roll out of the Kickapoo Mountain Bike Trailhead at 8am sharp. Every stage starts and finishes in the same place, so your car is your pit.
Points, not the clock
Scoring is by finish position at each stage, so every stage is a race in its own right.
Each stage is scored on finish position — not on elapsed time.
Points are assigned by place within your category at every stage.
Your three stage scores add up to one overall total.
Lowest total takes the Triple Crown; the Stage 3 finish breaks a tie.
